MESSALONSKEE 2, SKOWHEGAN 1: Sophia Ventimiglia scored a goal with less than 9 minutes remaining in the fourth quarter to give the Eagles (3-1) a victory over the River Hawks (4-1) at Veterans Field.
Ventimiglia, a sophomore, scored on the play shortly after a Messalonskee timeout. Chloe Michaud was credited with an assist. Alexa Caccamo also had a goal for the Eagles.
Lucia Siren had the lone goal for Skowhegan. It’s the first loss for the River Hawks since dropping a 4-1 contest to Cheverus in the 2021 Class A title game at Cony High School in Augusta.
