Darius Johnson scored 12 of his 27 points in the the first quarter to lead the Red Riots (14-3) over the Red Storm (10-7) in Scarborough.
Gabe Jackson added 15 points and Leonel Despacho had 11 for South Portland, the fourth-ranked team in the Varsity Maine poll.
Carter Blanche and Adam Fitzgerald both scored 13 points for Scarborough.
