Abby Luczynski scored 35 points as Dirigo boosted its Class C South tournament hopes with a 55-43 girls basketball win Wednesday night at Winthrop.
Luczynski made five 3-pointers. She had 19 points at halftime, then added 10 in the third quarter as the Cougars stretched a 27-24 lead to 46-34.
Dirigo (6-6) entered the game holding the 10th and final playoff spot in the Class C South Heal point standings. Winthrop (7-6) was ranked sixth.
Grace Folsom (19 points), Evelyn Mortimer (17) and Kylee Savage (12) provided the bulk of the offense for Winthrop.
