at Augusta Civic Center

Camden Hills 59, Brunswick 31

Leah Jones scored 19 points to lead the Camden Hills girls basketball team to a 59-31 win over Brunswick in a Class A North quarterfinal Friday at the Augusta Civic Center.

“It feels really great to get the win,” said Jones, a senior guard. “Now we understand (playing on a) bigger court and what it takes to make sure we’re getting our rotations, especially on our defensive press, which was a little stagnant in the first half.”

“You could tell that we had a little nerves in the beginning,” added Camden Hills coach Samantha Bragg. “I wasn’t too worried about it, but obviously when the game starts going, you have questions. We did a really good job responding at halftime and coming out doing what we’re supposed to do and be locked in.”

Maddison Cronkite scored 14 points for the No. 3 Windjammers, while Thea Laukka added 13. Camden Hills forced 31 turnovers out of the No. 6 Dragons, who finished 7-12.

Grace Roak led Brunswick with 15 points.
