A four-run first inning boosted the Cougars (3-0) to a Class C South victory over the Phoenix (1-1) in Jay.
Nikole Turnbull started Dirigo’s scoring with an RBI double, then Abby Luczynski singled home two runs and Xandria Libby knocked in one. Luczynski and Libby each finished with two RBI.
Lana Waite earned the win for the Cougars, striking out eight batters and allowing only three hits over seven innings.
Devin Bryant, Khloe Ames and Laya Spear recorded Spruce Mountain’s hits.
