Haley Hamlin struck out the first nine Freeport batters and finished with 15 strikeouts while throwing a two-hitter as the Lakers (3-2) defeated the Falcons (3-1) in Naples.
Hamlin also had two hits and scored the go-ahead run during a three-run fifth inning. Addy Wilson made it 3-1 with an RBI double and scored on a sacrifice fly by Vylet Robbins.
Ella Gibbons also had two hits, including a triple.
Chloe Bernier, the losing pitcher, scored Freeport’s run in the top of the fifth on a passed ball after hitting a double and stealing third.
