YARMOUTH 8, GREELY 7
Adelaide Strout doubled home the tying run in the top of the seventh inning and scored on a single by Tessie Sanford-Wardwell, lifting Yarmouth to an 8-7 win over Greely in a season-opening softball game Thursday in Cumberland.
Greely erased a 6-1 deficit by scoring six runs in the bottom of the sixth, highlighted by a Quinn Simpson grand slam, but Yarmouth quickly answered to take the victory.
Sanford-Wardwell and Mollie Webber both had two hits for the Clippers, who were aided by seven errors.
Sophie Smith paced Greely’s 11-hit attack with three hits. CJ Gorham was 2 for 4 with two RBI, and Simpson also had two hits.
