VALLEY 3, FOREST HILLS 0
Fisher Tewksbury struck out 12 and pitched a one-hit shutout as fourth-seeded Valley blanked fifth-seeded Forest Hills 3-0 in a Class D South baseball quarterfinal Wednesday in Bingham.
Tewksbury outdueled Tigers (6-10) pitcher Maddox Cuddy, who fanned 10, walked two and gave up only two hits.
The Cavaliers (7-6) ended the scoreless stalemate when Collin Nichols scored on a wild pitch with two outs in the bottom of the fifth inning. Both of Valley’s hits came in the sixth. Caleb Miller led off with a double, then scored on Levi Short’s single. Short later scored on a sacrifice bunt by Cameron Lay.
Forest Hills only hit was a fourth-inning single from Liam Achey.
In the semifinals, Valley will face the winner of Thursday’s quarterfinal between No. 1 Richmond (11-1) and No. 8 Temple Academy (2-10).
