CJ Gorham was 3 for 3 with three RBI and three runs scored, Quinn Simpson drilled a two-run homer, and the eighth-seeded Rangers (12-5) earned a five-inning mercy-rule win over the ninth-seeded Clippers (9-8) in a Class B South preliminary-round game in Cumberland.
Simpson, Avery Enos and Katie Wallace all finished with two hits. Enos drove in three runs, and Wallace had two RBI and two runs scored.
Greely broke the game open with an eight-run fourth inning. The Rangers advance to play top-seeded Medomak Valley in the quarterfinals on Thursday.
Tessie Sanford-Wardwell was 2 for 2 with two RBI and two runs scored for Yarmouth.
