The eighth-seeded Roadrunners (9-8) scored in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings and held off a seventh-inning comeback bid by the ninth-seeded Ramblers (8-9) in a Class C South preliminary-round game in Salem.
Mt. Abram advances to face No. 1 Monmouth Academy in the quarterfinals on Thursday.
Ethan Laliberte drove in the first run with a groundout in the fourth, Kaiden Longley hit an RBI single in the fifth, and Walker Wolfe scored on a wild pitch in the sixth.
Winthrop’s Wyatt Grant scored on an error and Ross Fichthorn hit an RBI single in the seventh.
Mt. Abram pitchers Brennan Mitchell, Kaiden Longley and Killian Pillsbury combined on a three-hitter.
