Drew Lindquist threw a 15-yard touchdown pass to Oliver Odom with 2.9 seconds remaining, lifting Cony to a 25-21 win over Fryeburg Academy in a Class B North season opener Friday in Fryeburg.

Cony, the defending regional champion, trailed 21-13 midway through the fourth quarter before Kingston Cox bulled into the end zone from the 1. The conversion pass failed, however, keeping Fryeburg in front.

Then, after an exchange of turnovers, Cony got the ball back at its own 37 with 1:23 remaining. A pass interference penalty help the Rams move deep into Fryeburg territory, and Lindquist eventually connected with Odom, who outleaped a defender in the corner of the end zone.

Lindquist also threw an 18-yard TD pass to Da’Marion Raymond in the first quarter, and Davis Noyes had a 1-yard scoring run.

Fryeburg quarterback Marcus Sutton accounted for all three of this team’s touchdowns, starting with a 53-yard interception return in the first quarter. He also rushed 10 yards for a second-quarter TD that made it 14-13 and threw a 20-yard touchdown pass to Lars Bruhn in the third quarter.
