Hannah Hunt set up the opening goal and then converted a penalty kick as Mt. Ararat opened its girls soccer season Saturday with a 3-1 win over Mt. Blue in a Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference game in Topsham.

The Eagles took the lead in the 18th minute when Katherine Therriault received a touch pass from Hunt and blasted a left-footed shot from the left side near the top of the penalty area.

Five minutes later, Hunt’s penalty kick made it 2-0.

Mt. Blue cut into the lead just 32 seconds into the second half when Kari Savage scored with a header off a long free kick.

Makenna Trockman restored the two-goal margin just three minutes later, however. She collected a cross from the right wing, split two defenders near the top of the box and drilled a shot into the left corner.
