Ethan Curtis threw three touchdown passes to Sam Hopkins, and Hermon held on for a 22-16 win over Wells in a Class C football game Friday night in Hermon.

A bad snap by Wells from punt formation resulted in a safety that gave Hermon an early 2-0 lead. On the ensuing drive, Curtis connected with Hopkins for a 36-yard touchdown.

Hermon added to its lead with 2.3 seconds remaining in the first half when Hopkins rolled out and found Hopkins for a 7-yard touchdown that made it 15-0.

Wells cut its deficit to 15-8 in the third quarter on a 1-yard run by quarterback Noah McDonough and a 2-point conversion rush.

The Hawks answered early in the fourth when Hopkins snared a 5-yard pass. Wells, though, kept its hopes alive when McDonough launched a deep pass to Darion Lamont for a 37-yard touchdown.

Wells quickly got the ball back and had a chance to tie or take the lead, but McDonough was hit while trying to throw a pass near midfield, resulting in an interception that clinched Hermon’s victory.
