The Clippers (2-1) overtook the Phoenix (2-1) in the second half to earn an eight-man Large School South victory in Livermore Falls.

After the teams swapped the lead in the third quarter, Yarmouth seized control with consecutive touchdowns – a 4-yard pass from Iggy McGrath to Adam Pelotte late in the third, then a 4-yard run by Raphael McGuffie with 7:58 left that gave Yarmouth a 46-32 lead.

Spruce Mountain took a bite out of the deficit when QB Dylan Jewett ran 16 yards for a score on fourth-and-long, but the Clippers put the game away on a 12-yard touchdown pass from McGrath to Nick Mantle with 1:14 remaining.

The Phoenix entered the second half with a 24-22 lead. Pelotte put Yarmouth ahead with a short touchdown run. Jewett answered less than two minutes later with a 14-yard run that put Spruce Mountain back on top, 32-30.
